Born and raised in Durham, Donald E. Brown Sr. has always had a passion for cooking. Seeing the joy on the faces of family and friends as they savored the flavors of his dishes at gatherings sparked a desire in him to share his culinary talents with a wider audience. 

Growing up, Donald learned the art of cooking from his parents and elders, immersing himself in the rich culinary traditions of his community. He discovered the secrets of preparing exquisite spices, sourcing quality ingredients, and crafting delectable sauces for a variety of dishes. This early exposure fueled his passion for cooking, and now he’s on a mission to bring these incredible flavors to everyone.

My husband and I attended the grand opening and thoroughly enjoyed all the food and music. We ordered every entrée and the meat was seasoned and prepared to perfection. The sides were so unbelievably delicious. The potato salad tasted as good as my husband’s. Our suggestion is to order the fried fish and sit down to eat them hot and add hot sauce that is provided. Then, order the chicken and ribs to go. Please stop by and show Don and his entourage that you will support an excellent quality but delicious soul food tradition in our local community.

I was delighted to be able to by an exceptionally delicious trout fillet dinner at the food truck owned and operated by fellow Hillside High School alumnus Donald Brown Sr. on Saturday at Durham County Stadium.
